Corriegarth Estate is offering an Apprentice Shepherd opportunity on its expanding farming operation.
This role would suit someone looking to build a career in livestock farming while gaining practical experience across a large Highland estate.
The Role
Assisting with the management of 1,300 Blackface ewes and 150 cross ewes.
Supporting all aspects of sheep husbandry throughout the year.
Taking part in lambing, marking, dosing, hill gathers, tick treatment, dipping and shearing.
Assisting with livestock handling and day to day shepherding duties.
Supporting in house silage production and grass reseeding programmes.
Undertaking tractor work as required throughout the season.
Assisting with general estate maintenance and upkeep duties.
What We Are Looking For
An interest in livestock farming and sheep husbandry.
A willingness to learn and develop practical farming skills.
A reliable and hardworking approach.
The ability to work as part of a team and independently when required.
Previous farming experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
What Is On Offer
A two bedroom house close to the main farm steading.
Council Tax and electricity included.
Dog kennels and a small outbuilding.
Pay in line with Agricultural Wages Board Apprentice rates.
Annual wet weather allowance.
Training courses required for the role.
