The Scottish Prison Service is looking for Operations Officers to join its team at HMP Inverness ahead of the opening of HMP Highland.
This role will suit someone who enjoys working with people, maintaining safety and security, and helping individuals make positive changes in their lives.
The Role
Supporting the safe and secure running of the prison.
Working within Front of House, Visits, Electronic Control Room, Patrol and Reception areas.
Welcoming visitors and maintaining security procedures.
Supervising visits and supporting family contact.
Monitoring CCTV, alarms and communication systems.
Escorting individuals safely throughout the establishment.
Supporting access to education, training and rehabilitation opportunities.
Managing prisoner movements within the establishment.
Maintaining safety, security and good order.
Responding professionally to challenging situations.
Working as part of a close-knit operational team.
Working Pattern
Permanent position.
35 hours per week.
Shift work.
Early shifts, day shifts, back shifts and night shifts required.
Rostered working pattern.
What We Are Looking For
Essential
Good numeracy and literacy skills.
Experience working effectively with others.
The ability to influence and positively challenge behaviour.
Experience following procedures and instructions accurately.
Strong communication skills.
Good problem solving abilities.
Values aligned with the Scottish Prison Service.
Not Essential
Previous prison experience.
Training will be provided through the Scottish Prison Service.
