Kilchoan Estate

Kilchoan Estate is looking for an experienced River Ghillie & Estate Steward to join its team on the remote Knoydart Peninsula.
This varied role is ideal for someone with a passion for river fishing, practical estate maintenance skills and a commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences.

The Role

Lead guided salmon and trout fishing experiences for estate guests.
Share knowledge of the estate’s rivers, wildlife, landscape and local heritage.
Prepare and maintain fishing equipment to a high standard.
Monitor river conditions and promote responsible fishing practices.
Maintain guest accommodation, estate grounds and river infrastructure.
Carry out painting, joinery, fencing, landscaping and minor repairs.
Assist with the upkeep of estate roads, tracks, bridges and outdoor facilities.
Support guest arrivals, departures and activity preparation.
Work closely with the Estate Manager and wider estate team.
Maintain high standards of professionalism, discretion and health and safety.

Working Pattern

Full time position.
Flexibility required to meet guest schedules and operational needs.
Accommodation may be available by separate arrangement.

What We Are Looking For

Essential

Significant experience as a River Ghillie, fishing guide or in a similar sporting estate role.
Excellent knowledge of salmon and trout fishing.
Strong practical maintenance skills.
Experience in a guest facing environment.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
A proactive and reliable approach.
Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors throughout the year.
A full UK driving licence.
The right to work in the UK.

Not Essential

Experience working on a private sporting estate.
