Maraen is looking for an experienced Sustainability & Environment Advisor / Manager to join its team at the Port of Nigg.
This role would suit an environmental professional who can work at both a strategic and practical level, helping develop and deliver environmental and sustainability improvements across the business.

The Role

Monitor and manage environmental matters across Maraen sites, including water, energy and waste.
Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits and regulatory requirements.
Support compliance with Environmental Permitting Regulations, Water Discharge Consents, PPC and NORMS.
Monitor environmental performance and report on improvement activities.
Develop and improve reporting templates and procedures for sustainability reporting.
Work with stakeholders and environmental regulators.
Oversee the operation and compliance of the Effluent Treatment Plant.
Manage waste handling, storage, disposal and recycling activities.
Develop carbon footprint baselines, forecasts, monitoring and reporting.
Analyse environmental data and identify trends.
Support environmental audits, accreditation schemes and compliance programmes.
Build relationships with regulators, government agencies and industry stakeholders.
Work closely with HSEQ, operational teams and senior management.
Help embed sustainable working practices throughout the organisation.

Working Pattern

Full time position.
Office based at the Port of Nigg.
Applicants must be able to commute to the Port of Nigg daily.
Travel will be required to support the business across the Highlands and Aberdeen.

What We Are Looking For

Essential

Recognised qualification in sustainability.
Professional membership of IEMA, ISEP or a similar organisation.
Previous experience in environmental compliance, environmental management or a similar role.
Good understanding of carbon emission sources and reporting scopes.
Strong understanding of environmental legislation, consenting and regulatory requirements relevant to aquaculture operations.
Ability to analyse data, identify trends and produce clear reports and recommendations.
Experience managing environmental audits, accreditation schemes and compliance programmes.
Ability to build effective relationships with regulators, government agencies and industry stakeholders.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work independently.
Full valid UK driving licence.
Right to live and work in the UK without current or future visa sponsorship requirements.

Not Essential

Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline is desirable.
Experience of water quality monitoring, pollution prevention or other environmental management processes is desirable.
Lead Auditor qualification for ISO 14001 is desirable.
